I am 71 years old. My wife is 64, a 3-year breast cancer survivor and is in a wheelchair. We live on a rigid budget, are both disabled and have diabetes along with a lot of medical expenses. Our last month's electric bill was more than double the previous month's. We have had to borrow against our monthly SS direct deposit ($200 in Dec. and $400 in Jan.) and just need a little help to catch up.
,br /> Our electric company is working with us to help reduce our utility bill down to a manageable monthly expense, but it will be at least a month before we'll see the 33% savings they predict for enrolling in their new program. This grant would help us get back on track to making our Feb. mortgage payment on time. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide to help with our situation.
