I am a C-5 C6 quadriplegic. I've been in a wheelchair for approximately 19 years due to gunshot wounds. I am a very ambition young man that is out to accomplish the goals that I have set in place to gain back my own independence in life.

I recently went through a skin that surgery at one of the top medical institution in the state. That was my goal after learning about them 12 years ago from my primary doctor. I decided to spend what I had financially to achieve that goal.

I traveled to California in May for my evaluation and went back July to actually have that surgery done by this doctor that had great credibility in my type of surgery. After being in the system and realizing that I'm being limited about the way I should live, that is not my way so after going to Rancho, Los Amigos, I learned about different organizations such as the Christopher Reeve foundation.

This led me to you all and another nonprofit organization that is assisting me in putting together a fundraiser so that I can to go through the stem cell research treatment and also to purchase a wheelchair accessible van, which would allow me to independently drive on my own here.

This van will help me to go more out into the community as well as backing for the work and gain more my own independent for myself. It will also help me to accomplish my goals to start going into the school system to be a motivational speaker to the teens and young adults to teach them about the harm in violence and making sure that they beware of how the choices we make affect our lives.

My goal is to be so independent that I can come a ways from the government assistance and pay for it on my own until I go through the stem cell treatment to walk again. Being a productive citizen and a servant for others in my profession, my goal is to help people with disabilities as well as others to show them that keeping your own independence is important. I truly appreciate whatever Modest needs can assist me with thank you for your time and patience. Have a blessed day.
