I was accidentally hurt, while on a mission trip, to Kingsport, TN., with my church youth group. While on the trip I was exposed and inhaled a mixture of chlorine and ammonia gases. I was immediately hospitalized and placed in an ICU unit. My throat, esophagus, larynx and bronchial tubes had been chemically burned. After returning back home I have been readmitted to the hospital several times. I now have other medical conditions (ie. diabetes) as a result of the accident and my treatment. I am still under doctor's care and am unable to return to work.

My income would normally be 60% of our spendable household income. My husband is retired and receives a retirement check from his job. As of May 2010, he will start receiving his Social Security benefits. But, in the meantime we have fallen very behind in most of our bills. We have started to work with some agencies regarding our mortgages, and car payments. We have never been in a situation like this before. With your help on this bill we hope to begin getting our bills back to a manageable degree so that when my disability and my husbands S.S starts we can once again begin paying our bills on time. My family and I are very thankful for the help that you were able to give to a perfect stranger. 2009 was a very tough year for us. I have been in the hospital 11 times, had 2 major surgeries within 2 weeks of each other. I am now unable to work due to exposure to toxic gases, which have burned and inflamed my throat down to my lungs. Without the help of people like you my family and I would not be able to meet all of are bills.
