Your assistance with helping me to replace my computer would keep my world opened up for me. I'm mostly homebound, due to MS (multiple sclerosis), Congestive Heart-Failure, Seizures and severe allergies (to colognes, chemicals, environmental stuffs, AND to all the medications that address these issues).

My life is a delicate, complicated, enriching dance that I thoroughly embrace and celebrate. My antiquated computer is on its last legs. A new computer will help me maintain most of my contact with the outside world. A new computer will help me utilize the use of Skype for video conferences with my doctors and for touching base with my brother who lives 3 hours away. Since I am allergic to most medicines I use the computer for various on-line games and other sites make it possible for me to do extensive neurological work so that I CAN function in the real world.

The access-port makes it possible to hook up a biofeedback program that helps me have pain-control and to stay in contact with my Case Manager and set up our appointments (phones cause seizures). I have found a way to offer support to others. A way to keep perspective of my own health issues. A way to give back to the world. A way to share what I've learned with others to make their journey easier. A way to support parents as they deal with the chronic illness and/or death of their child.

I don't want to take away from people needing to pay their electricity bills, having enough to eat or having a roof over their heads. Yet, I'd be delighted if there were a way to make room for this computer, as it keeps open the world of possibilities and connection for someone with disabilities like mine.

Thank you for your time, energy and consideration. May you be richly and abundantly blessed in all you think and do, no matter what my personal outcome.

Testimonial

This person has left the following thank you note:

Your gift makes it possible for so many things to continue in my life. Part of that amazing list, is over in the original request place. But I'd like to wrap more words around it here....sharing how, unbeknownst to you, you're helping other folks, by helping me. You make possible things like 'secret' computer-forays in-the-middle-of-the-night. When the pain is too bad to sleep or concentrate on biofeedback programs, I like to slip over to CaringBridge sites and sign guestbooks and offer support. It gets my mind off of me, reminds me how truly blessed I am, and brightens someone else's day. Invariably it carries me to a different inner-place so that, my pain is less all-consuming. That alone is reason to rejoice....to have a chance to set something 'warm and fuzzy' into motion. You also make it possible to make equally important forays to various apartments in this high-rise, slipping notes under folks's doors who have no family and feel forgotten. It's extra fun to do this without leaving traces of who did it, so they can think good things about all their neighbors, wondering who loves them, grin. These may seem like small, unimportant things.....but in the lives of those of us who's world is swamped with medical stuff or solitude, it means the world. Thanks for all the doors you've kept open. Hope you don't mind, but you're now part of my Prayer-Songs too. May you be infinitely and abundantly blessed, with every breath you take. Forever Grateful, Lu
